Getting ready for a big trip is an exciting time. It’ll keep you antsy and ready to go until you get to your destination. The only thing that’s stopping you from the extraordinary excitement is the flight from point A to point B. However, flying doesn’t have to be that bad. In fact, it’s supposed to be a time for you to relax and prepare yourself for your vacation travels. Here are the top tips to make the most out of your flight.

Charge and Stay Charged

The worst thing that can happen on a 10 hour flight is that your iphone dies and you’re left with no music and no games, and will require you to stare into space for the rest of your flying time. Make sure that your phone and music players are charged at 100% before you get on the plane. Because your device will be in airplane mode, you shouldn’t have a problem with the battery dying too fast, however, 10 hours is a long time. Be sure to also bring extra chargers, as some airplanes offer inflight outlets so that you can charge your device.

Get Comfy

We all know that flying economy class is probably the most uncomfortable thing in the world, so you have to DIY the comfort. Be sure to pack along a neck pillow, so you’re not left to deal with the tension pain after the flight. It’s also a good idea to dress comfy and in layers. You probably want to stay away from skinny jeans as the pressure build up while you’re in the air, ultimately slowing down your blood flow and making you swell up like a balloon, but yoga pants and a sweatshirt may be a good idea. If you get cold easily, it may be a good idea to pack a small blanket or big scarf to make you as comfortable as possible.

Sleeping Pills

Sleeping pills are a must have for the long flight if you’re trying to get a good night’s rest, especially because of the time-one change. Many people need their sleep on the plane if they plan on arriving to their destination during the day- there is no time to waste! If you have trouble sleeping, this trick may be able to help you out. Just be sure to consult a doctor before you try this.

Hand Sanitizer and Vitamins

The dirtiest place on earth is the airport and airplane. With thousands of people running in and out of the airport each hour, you’re bound to find the most amount of germs here. Be sure to pack along hand sanitizer to kill the germs away, as well as stock up on your vitamins to keep your immune system strong to decrease your chances of catching a cold.

Move Around

Moving around on a tiny airplane? That’s right. Sitting in a tight position for too long, especially well beyond thousands of feet in the air is terrible for your blood circulation which increases your risk of a blood clot. Try to get up and move your feet/ legs around whenever possible. Shoot for standing up every hour (if the seat belt light isn’t on).

Drink Water

Remember how poor blood circulation was mentioned? Be sure to sip on plenty of water throughout your flight, and less of the sugary and caffeinated drinks. Water helps flush out toxins from your body, while keeping your blood circulating and allowing your body to stay hydrated. This is important as flying is very likely to cause dehydration. Fill up or buy a large water bottle after you pass security in the airport.
