Laos is a country that is not popular tourist destination yet it has much to offer its travelers. Located in Asia, in between Thailand and Vietnam, Laos is full of a culture rooted in Buddhism. The country also seems to get overlooked by its other popular neighboring countries, in terms of tourism. Yet, there are many great destinations within the country that will give you memories you will never forget.

Places to Go

Food

Lao cuisine is quite different than most Asian cuisines. One of the most popular dishes of the country is steamed sticky rice. This dish is normally eaten by hand. This dish is the essence of the people of Lao. The call themselves “children of the sticky rice”. Larb is also quite a popular dish in Lao culture. It is a mix of marinated meat or fish paired with an assortment of herbs, vegetables, and spices. The meat may be prepared raw as well. Their dishes vary region to region due to what fresh foods are available to them locally.
